Dear God,
When we are truly open to your spirit, you put your spirit within us. Even when we are not open to your spirit, you still come to us waiting for the opportunity to commune with us. If we are not open, we are blind to your presence.
Every day you give us numerous opportunities to abide with you. You whisper your invitation. Sometimes you shout out loud, but if our hearts, minds, and souls are closed we miss precious time with you.
So we are left with the question, Why would we forfeit any time with you? When one day closes at the strike of midnight, that day is gone forever, forever. We cannot return to that day except in our minds and memories. We cannot change the unfolding events of the day. However, we can change our attitude toward the day. If we have forsaken you, we can return in memory and ask for forgiveness. We can apologize and show our sorrow and repent. We can promise to start anew. We can then let the day go remembering your goodness and grace for a second chance.
As we live each day, help us remember your promise to always be with us. Then grace us with strength, faith, and devotion to always be with you.
Teach us
your ways,
O Lord.
Give us feet
that remain
on your path.
Give us
a heart
to love you
and our neighbor
as our self.
Give us
a mind
to discern
your ways.
Forgive us
when we fail,
I ask you,
dear Lord.
Love, Andrea
