Dear God,
Every day you give us opportunity to let go, to surrender that which is not essential in life. A resentful can be left behind, a grudge can be turned over, a disappointment can be set at your doorstep. We can go forward leaving those things that hurt us. We can rise up lighter, healthier, and happier. We can live more by faith than by our own will and way.
How many times have you given me permission to renew my life? How often have you allowed me to toss my sin and pick up forgiveness? How frequently have I judged others and then carried that judgement around like a millstone that brought me to my knees or worse to the pavement but then you reminded me I no longer had to carry the weight but you offered me liberation, freedom from the past?
This last day of 2013 is an opportune time to evaluate my bag of tricks, my cluttered soul, and my assets and liabilities. You see them all anyway. Nothing is left from your sight. I need to take an honest look at what needs work, what must be cleaned up, and what definitely needs to be surrendered. In doing so I know the tools I need for the future will be waiting for me as I trust you to lead me to a better life. As I step into the new year I can be a better me in assisting others to do the same.
Teach us
to be
trusting pilgrims
on a journey
into the future.
Let your spirit
invade the whole
of who
we are
so we
can become
who you
want us
to be.
Show us
the way,
Merciful God.
Rid us
of all
that holds us back
from leading
the life
you desire
for us.
Make us new
so we
can assist you
in creating
a new world,
a brighter world
around us,
I pray
in thanksgiving.
Love, Andrea
