Dear God,

The journey to the light is a must for every day living.  Otherwise, we tend to find the darkness.  If our eyes are set on other things, the darkness will creep in.  However, if we anticipate the light and open ourselves to it, not only will the light come, it will give us joy, hope, and peace. 

When I look around me, I find people whose search for the light is very evident.  They glow with a radiance that warms those around them.  They worship regularly and serve others with compassionate love.  They live out of faith because their love for you is number one.

As I battle to overcome my own darkness at times, I confess sometimes I give in particularly when I feel the need to hold certain attitudes and behave in certain ways.  But always, yes always, your light shines just enough to convict my soul of its wrongdoing.  Your understanding way holds me as I turn and twist to shake off my unhealthy thoughts.  You give me another chance as I reach for the light and surrender the darkness.  In the end I discover the darkness never has the final say because the light even encircles the darkness.

of the darkness
so your light
can shine
once again.

that never fails
to welcome us home.
