Dear God,

Prayer keeps us connected to you.  It drives us to our knees because we must park at your door if we want divine intervention in our lives.  As we pray we open ourselves to love and in love we can learn, change, forgive, give, serve, worship, help, and love, ourselves and others.

You gently guide me to you each morning as I awaken.  You invite me into yourself where I can tarry, pray for the world's people, and succumb to love's mercy.  You remind me I am your child and you are my God.  You show me the way to acknowledge my sins and to pray for the sins of others.  You urge me to let my love grow, to include all, and to make faith real in every day living.  You give me hope and peace and even if life is difficult you lead me to joy in you.

Throughout the day you whisper my name and I become conscious of my life in you.  I listen and then speak, uttering pleas for assistance for loved ones, strangers, and even world leaders who fail to truly care for their own people.  At mealtime I pray because how can I eat food at my table without giving thanks?

Finally, at night when I drag my weary body to bed, I hear your call once more and often, I fall to sleep praying.  As the day ends I intuitively know I am in your hands as is the whole world's people.  I rest because I know whose arms will hold me all night long and I am exceedingly grateful.

Beloved God,
thank you
for holy moments
of prayer.
Thank you
for speaking
and reminding us
to listen.
Thank you
for sacred connections
that help order
our lives.

Love, Andrea
