My dearest God,
Your ways are true. You ask us to trust you, to listen, and to act obediently. You set us on high ground and give us yourself so we are enabled to live victoriously.
Oftentimes life is not easy; in fact, it is downright hard. We look in every direction but cannot see the light of day. We listen for voices to tell us what to do but we find only silence. We breathe in the air around us but it is stale making us listless. We search for answers but they elude us. We try to dream but even our dreams have left us.
Such moments call for radical faith, faith alive and fully open. We turn on the switch so glad there is something we can do to change our situation. We call out, sometimes pleading and although there is no orchestra to give us a drum roll, we know in our deepest knowing you are with us holding us, embracing us close so our hearts begin to beat in one accord, and acting on our behalf. As the air begins to clear we hear our own heartbeat, stronger than before. The air changes somehow because we are able to breathe more easily. Our will power grabs for divine will and your mercy oozes into our cells and we rise with a smidgen of hope that is just enough to kick start a new beginning. We start to whisper, "Your will and your way, O Lord, your will and your way."
There is nothing to hold us back from you, Gracious God. No situation is fatal because you are with us urging us on. Even though the environment around us may not yet have been transformed, we are changed inside ourselves because we have reckoned our life with you.
Holy One,
full of power
and might,
breathe on us anew.
Bring hope
to life
once again.
Give us strength
to trust,
to listen,
and to act obediently.
Help us stretch
toward Love
and hold on
for dear life,
I pray.
Love always, Andrea
