Dear God,

You keep love in our hearts for those we do not see for a long time.  The moment we see them, that love stirs within us and we are happy.

Today I returned to the church I served for nearly 10 years.  As I walked down the aisle with three granddaughters people turned and smiled.  I smiled too.  We were glad to see one another.  Where I was able I stepped into the pew and hugged old friends.  My heart was glad and so were the hearts of those I hugged.

As I found my seat and the worship began I realized the love that is stored in our hearts is love from heaven.  While the prelude played I looked around and remembered.  Visions of Christmas Eve services, Easter, musical programs, Holy Communion, testimonies, and morning worship warmed my soul.  The love that grew in my heart at that moment was an appreciation for your love present there in the people. 

Holy Father,
you love
is good.
Your kindness
is eternal;
it touches
and inspires us
to draw close
to you
and one another.
Thank you
for your
loving presence
in the people
this morning.
