Dear God,

We turned the music all the way up to listen to our favorite songs from a CD made by a stepson for his father for Father's Day.  Although Harold thought it was a nice gift, it became a WOWSER for my grandchildren and me.  Songs from Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson give us opportunity to sing loud, play invisible musical instruments, and have a fabulous time making memories together.

Today as we listened to Willie Nelson sing What a Wonderful World, you came to me in a gentle breeze.  The song portrays a beautiful world with green trees, blue skies, and red roses.  It also talks about people shaking hands, saying how do you do, and really saying I love you.  It is wonderful but then I thought of those whose trees were burned out by falling bombs, whose skies are dark from fire and smoke, whose roses no longer bloom, where people run instead of shake hands, and where power greedy people hurt others.  But that is when it came to me, faith makes dead trees alive again, faith makes blue skies and roses bloom once more.  Faith brings people together with warm hugs, genuine care, and loving compassion.  Faith restores what once was and still can be.  Faith brings hope in difficult situations.  Faith brings peace and order and above all love.

What gifts
you give us,
Lord,
when we
make messes
of things.
We forget
who we are
and what
we are
to be about.
We take
the wonderful world
you give us
and we
destroy it.
Forgive us.
Thank you
for faith
that restores beauty
and wonder
and above all,
love and compassion
for all.

Love, Andrea
