Dear God,
Down deep we all long for peace, real peace, not just the absence of conflict. We want that deep peace where contentment resides, where serenity comforts and gives hope, and where generosity and love function naturally, normally, and properly. We long for peace because we long for you.
Surely, Lord, we all know we are short on peace and long on everything else. We long for peace because we are not peace-filled people. We are restless, irritable, and distracted. We do not give peace to others because we are not at peace with ourselves.
Perhaps your best name is prince of peace. Perhaps that is why many of us are drawn to you. Perhaps we need to open ourselves more to you and less to our distractions.
Bring us peace,
O Lover of Peace,
bring us peace
so we
can become peacemakers.
Teach us how
to do
our part
to bring peace
to the world,
one person
at a time.
Thank you
for peace
you bring us daily
when we
operate out
of faith.
Love, Andrea
