Dear God,
I sit here in the quiet, the Christmas tree all aglow. The mantle lights reveal the angels with Joseph as he holds the baby Christ. The Bethlehem crèche adorns the altar table in front of the sofa. The countless snow people smile atop the old upright piano. The soft white candle waits to be lighted. Everything points to Christmas.
What a glorious season to remember you and give thanks. What an amazing time to count blessings. What a beautiful time to remember special graces, miracles, and promises fulfilled. This is the time to pause, to reflect upon your beauty, goodness, and love.
It is also the time to pray for others. You call us to think of others, to help, and to reach out where we can. You challenge us to reprioritize our lives with family.
More than all this, you call us to accountability for faith. Do we believe? You ask. Do we live our faith? Do we care about others, the stranger, the refugee, the brokenhearted, the frightened, and the lonely? Do we live deeply our relationship with you? Do we live in love?
O Lord,
make Christmas
all about
the interior life
with you.
Make way
for your spirit
to dwell
more deeply.
Form, reform,
and transform us
to be
loving ambassadors
of spiritual love,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
