Dearest God,
Some days there is nothing to do but celebrate! When we take stock in the goodness of our God, all we can do is praise.
Sunday was one of those days! Once again I was asked to be the hymn sing leader. I looked out among the congregation and saw my dear, dear friend Alice who is 93. Beside her sat her old friend who was a first time visitor so I asked for her favorite hymn. When we sang Just As I Am, she smiled remembering, I guess, past times of singing that favorite of so many. Next we sang the favorite of Ruth, who for all practical purposes is in hospice care. Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior touched many as we sang together. And then there was Debbi who has been so ill for months. When asked for her favorite she repeated Just As I Am. So we sang verses two and five. The fifteen minute singing was such a blessing that we rose to heights unknown.
When spirits are lifted, when people share from their heart, and when those who are sick, infirmed, or dying suddenly appear in our midst once again, there is always a call for celebration!
Thank you
for blessing us,
Lord;
thank you
for blessing us!
Thank you
for bringing us
back together again.
Thank you
for worship,
the opportunity
to sing,
celebrate and praise.
Love, Andrea
