Dear God,

It is fun to watch the squirrels carrying nuts in their mouth, running along the top of the fence and then squirreling them away into the ground.  They are preparing themselves for the long winter ahead.

You have taught me to watch and listen to nature.  You have given me life lessons.  Today you let the squirrels speak the message of preparedness.

Am I prepared for drought, spiritual drought?  Am I prepared for the lack of water, living water?  Am I prepared for long stretches of difficulty, sorrow, and trouble?  Have I squirreled away hope, faith, and peace?  Am I ready to dig deep for all the spiritual resources you have given me for such times?

Observing the squirrel making preparations is a reminder for me too, to prepare.  Am I ready?

Thank you
for the message
of nature.
Thank you
for squirrels
who share
their message.
Thank you
for spiritual awareness
that aids us
in learning
to be prepared.

Love, Andrea
