Dear God,

We never have to look far for you.  You are ever present.  You allow us to find you.

Often it seems you are far away.  We can't seem to see you or feel you with us.  We know we have a habit of stepping aside, taking another road, or ignoring you.  The gap is what we create when we try to live life on our own.  Yet, we breathe your air, drink your water, and hear the rustle of your grace toward us.  You are never absent from us but maybe you are quiet while we reorient ourselves.

Reunions are sweet.  You are merciful and always ready to join us once again on the journey.

Eternal God,
there is
no real life
without you.
We may think
we own all
that is
around us;
however, everything
has your name
on it.
Keep us
ever close,
so we
may grow faith
instead of
abandon it.
