Dear God,

Each time I drive to church to worship, the moment I drive into the parking lot, I discover a spiritual calm.  There is something holy and peaceful about gathering with your people to worship.

When you created the church, you knew this calm was possible.  You knew we would meet up with your Holy Spirit.  You knew the music would cause our souls to soar.  You knew our faith would increase, our doubts would subside, and our darkness would lessen.  You knew love would spread.

Sunday mornings are truly a holy day because there we gather with you.  We find our place in your spiritual community.  We feed upon your word, your love, your compassion, your mercy and your grace.  In some ways we gather to clean ourselves up, to consider our worries, our sins, and our shortcomings.  You give us opportunity to let go, to surrender ourselves and all our troubles, and to renew ourselves.  In the time we spend gathered and worshipping, you cleanse us, remake us, and love us so we can rise anew.

Blessed Lord,
thank you
for the gift
of your church.
Thank you
for worship
that moves
our minds
toward you.
Thank you
for spiritual treasure
that awaits us
every time
we make
our way
to worship.

Love, Andrea
