Dear God,

How can a nation lose its moral compass?  How can it spiral downward as if there is no higher place to go?  How can it surrender its goodness, visionary leadership, and moral integrity?

Oh Lord, we have lost our way.  We have allowed lobbyists, PACs, and greedy people to tempt us, leading us to corruption, We have thought only of ourselves, fed our own egos, and lost sight of the people.  We have filled our own pockets while leaving children hungry.

How do we relinquish our desire for power, wealth, and control?  How do we step out of the darkness and head for the light?  How do we rise to you?

Help us,
Lord,
to be
the people
you want us
to be.
Forgive us
our sins.
Humble us
in prayer.
