Dear God,
St. Therese of Lisieux experienced a vast darkness in her spiritual life much like Mother Teresa. Although the darkness was profound, difficult, and painful they trusted you through it in order to find the light.
We all experience times of darkness, O Lord. We feel lonely, sad, and frightened. In those moments we question and doubt our relationship with you. We wonder how we could be trapped in the darkness seemingly without your warm light.
Your son called himself "the light of the world." As we rely on your revealing light in the darkness, we struggle; at the same time, we trust in you to guide our way, to show us the way, and to reveal the way.
Holy God,
make your way plain,
we pray.
Let your light shine.
Forgive us
when we
cry out
in darkness
and fail
to trust.
Galvanize us
in faith,
we ask.
Love, Andrea
