Dear God,
We come to you in rags when our hearts are not pure. We carry our burdens, sins, and flaws and place them at your feet. We bow down because we know we are not worthy to look up and yet, you call us forward as a beloved child.
How many times have we come in rags? So many, many times, O Lord, too many to count and who would want to? Our hearts become impure when we are jealous, angry, and resentful. When we indulge ourselves in anything that does not lift you up or even ourselves, we are playing with things that will keep us down and dirty. Yet, your compassion meets us at the door of heaven.
Only you can clean us up. Only you can restore us. Only you can make us new. How we long to be made pure once again.
Gracious and Loving God,
we stand
before you
as we are.
Cleanse us
so we
may go forth
who you
want us
to be.
Transform us
by your
holy will,
we ask.
Love, Andrea
