Dear God,
Only you can heal a human heart. Only you can tend to each part, each piece. Only you can make the blood flow again. Only you.
There are some things that hurt so much that it seems unlikely that healing can ever come. Injustice, unexpected happenings, and great losses rip and tear like nothing else. At some time or other we all feel ripped and torn, O Lord.
But like a gentle mother, a loving physician, a caring caregiver, you come to us. You begin your work with mercy. You anoint us with this great gift. Then you attend to us with love, love that warms and commences the healing process. You spread hope like a salve on our wounds. You wait with us while the tissue begins to knit, the color returns, and the body finds its strength. And all the while you sing your love song to us, helping the whole of us find our way. After everyone else leaves, you remain as always.
Hope-Giving God,
thank you
for your
amazing gifts.
Thank you
for your
steady presence.
Thank you
for love
that is eternal.
Love, Andrea
