Dear God,

Layers and layers, we have to go through layers and layers of things before we can find the true beauty hidden beneath.  Only then will we discover the gems waiting for us.

I have worked for 12 or 13 years on the spiritual path always taking my cues from you, Holy Father.  I dug and cleared, pruned, ripped and tore, pulled up, sawed, cleaned and planted as you led me.  A couple of friends have helped me.  This is the first year that I really discovered what has labored to live through all the invasive vines, weeds, plants, shrubs and debris that have literally taken over for decades.  Several stands of differing varieties of ferns now dance in the wind. Sedum has popped up and other natural wild things.  They are so beautiful; I hardly want to take my eyes off them.

Like the spiritual path, as you removed layer after layer of emotional and psychological debris as well as faulty thoughts and flawed imperfections in me, only then have I been able to find what is good within me, what you placed there even before my birth.  There I found your wondrous and loving mercy, your kindness and gifts you so freely gave to me.  In the digging, clearing and cleaning I was enabled to see who and what you see.

Gracious God,
your gifts
are infinite,
your love
even more.
Thank you
for all
you do
to clean us up,
to clear us
and to
give us gifts
from your
own hand.
How I
love you,
Father,
how I
love you.

Forever yours, Andrea
