Dear God,

Why must it be our way?  Why do we think our way is best?  Why do we become irritated when others do not do things our way?  When and where and why did we ever begin to think our way was the only way?

We grow up thinking we are gods to be followed.  We believe we are rare, unique, so much so that others will follow us.  Yet, we forget whose will and way are greater than our own.  We forget the name of the one true God.  We resist the temptation to turn, to bend toward the holy God who made us.  We forget we are the substance of faith, love and spirit.  When we fail to yield to you, we surrender all these by making our own way, giving in to our own will.  Eventually we perish on our own laurels.

Lord, you make us yours.  You call us children, friends and you pour out your love and mercy upon us.  You whisper our name every day reminding us we are your family.  You call us to follow you because your desire is we have a full, meaningful, joyful life.  When we do come together, merging into one, we find the way, the grace-filled way, the wise way, the way of hope, faith and gratitude.  What life is better?

Holy God,
Blessed God,
Eternal God,
thank you
for the blessing
of uniting us together
with you.
Thank you
for making us one
by faith.
Thank you
for daily reminders
to shift,
to turn
and to bend
to you.
Thank you
for love
that gives us
another chance.

Love always, Andrea
