Dearest God,

I look at the jars of freshly canned tomatoes and I say WOW!  The juicy, red fruit is ready to travel back home.  All the hours of picking, washing, blanching, quartering, cooking and canning means excellent winter delight.

But none of it is possible without you, O Lord.  Your handprint is on every tomato!  Your sunshine, warm to hot temperatures and rain help the seed to grow.  Yet, even that is not enough.  You place in each seed the desire to change and grow, to rise up and to plump up, ready for consumption.  Without you there is no tomato and no seed.

As I labor in the kitchen for hours working I think of you and pray prayers of thanksgiving.

Loving God,
thank you
for all
you do
to make
life possible.
Thank you
for the flavor,
the color,
the texture
and the wonder
of tomatoes,
my favorite fruit.
Thank you,
Merciful God,
for every gift.

Love, Andrea
