Dear God,

So much to do to repair, restore, renew, refresh and revitalize our old, old house.  For two centuries she has stood as a small but beautiful two-story Victorian home on Pleasant Street.

Anytime I have work to do on our home, I am reminded of all the spiritual and emotional work you have to do on us.  As I pay special attention to old, worn out, broken down windowsills that I can't sand because of lead paint, I realize how you pay careful attention to the broken places in our lives.  Some things require your expert care because we simply are not able to heal and help some broken places.  The effect of this knowledge is the challenge for me to attend to the house like you attend to me and all of us.

As I labor for hours at a time, I become aware how much time you spend working on me.  What it causes me to do is whisper prayers of gratitude for your loving care.

Thank you
for all
your work,
O Lord.
Thank you
for caring
for me
in the way
I care
for this
old house
except more so.
You are
so loving.
I am grateful
to call you Father.

Love, Andrea
