Dear God,

St. Francis stands quietly beside our back patio.  Holding tiny birds in his hands, he calls me to be still and listen, to surrender my own selfish thoughts and be aware of your holy presence.  When I first envisioned him nearly fifty years ago, I did not know he would lead me on a holy path to the Divine.  I did not know he would lead me in singing, praising and giving thanks.  I did not know we would draw close, collapsing the centuries between us.

There seems to be a thin veil between humanity and the saints.  Only when we are silent and listening can we enter into the holy of holies where your spirit speaks, challenges, comforts, stretches and loves.  As I gaze upon him even now, I know our hearts beat with your own heart.

Thank you
for the blessing
of faith.
Thank you
for saints,
particularly St. Francis
who has been
a friend
for a long,
long time.
Thank you
for his insights,
his devotion
and his service.

Love always, Andrea
