Dear God,

I have never seen the birds happier as they mate, soar, sing, dance and build nests.  In the darkest hours of the pandemic, the birds are a sharp contrast to what is happening in the world.  I watched as a robin built her nest, carrying away some of my dry oriental grass.  I watched as another bird laid her eggs. As mother labored, I felt drawn to her as I remembered laboring more than 50 years ago to give birth myself.  I realized at that moment we were one living together, laboring together and offering our best to one another.  She labored to give birth to eggs that will open one day to new baby chicks.  I labored giving birth to light.  We really were one.

Make us one always,
dear Creator,
make us one.
We need
one another.
You made us
for each other.
You called us
one creation.
Thank you,
Holy God.

Love always, Andrea
