Dear God,
I felt the draw of faith as I parked my car in the Masonic parking lot and walked across the street to West Kennebunk United Methodist Church. It has been five months since I gathered with others to worship. Our churches had been shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although we sat in front of our computers to join in worship by Zoom on Sundays, still we didn't feel the presence of one another. Even though today we sat about 8' from all others, still it was sweet mercy.
We have a longing for one another. We need companions on the spiritual and emotional journey. You did not design us to be apart. Yet, right now we must to keep one another safe. We must express our love through action by mask wearing, social distancing and staying away from crowds. We must pray for one another and all those working to keep us healthy.
This Sunday day was a very special one as I gathered with the flock of Christ and ate and drank spiritual nourishment from your hand. Yes, a special day.
Holy God,
you draw us together
whether close
in space
or far away
for worship.
You make us
one people.
You speak
to us.
You offer yourself
in encouragement,
compassion and peace.
Thank you,
Loving God,
thank you.
Love, Andrea
