Dear God,

Yesterday you gave us a new president, one who possesses and shares empathy, hope, love, mercy and strength. It seemed as if the air was purer, cleaner and hope-filled.  I smiled and and realized a number of members of Congress were smiling too.  How long has it been since we smiled?

You knew our need.  You knew our suffering, our pain.  You knew we needed a change.  You relieved us and lifted our burden.  You blessed us.

We have not been cured yet.  Our nation and world are still in trouble.  Our people are still afraid and wanting and so you sent someone who will assuredly take care of us.

Blessed are you,

Almighty and Compassionate God.

for relief

and hope.
