Dear God,
A stay in the woods in southern Indiana has invited me into a deeper, closer relationship to you. The picturesque view outside the multiple windows with a variety of winter birds, squirrels, tall trees and miles of hills and valleys calls to me. "Be quiet, still, listen for me in the silence." And so I want to, I so want to quiet even the sound of my own heart beating so I can hear your still, small voice.
As I sat reading my devotional books, I listened to St. Paul, "And God has actually given us his Spirit so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us." (I Cor. 2:12 NLT) I feel so thrilled to be able to know even the teensiest things of God and are enabled to share them with others. I am blessed to know you and be known by you.
Today as I look out on the snowy scene, the squirrels vying with birds for corn kernels scattered on the ground, I know you are God and I am yours.
Blessed are you,
Wondrous Creator,
blessed are you.
I give thanks
for rare moments
like these
where I
can just sit
and watch
and listen
and wait.
Blessed are you.
Love, Andrea
