Dear God,

It is not easy to listen for your voice, O God, because we are not always open to what you will say.  We may want to be close but our desire for our own will and way can rob us of opportunities for love, hope and even growth.

During this difficult last year we have just wanted you to take all the obstacles away...a pandemic, economic uncertainty, division, loss and pain.  But for oh so many reasons, we have had to make our way through the chaos.  Yet, there have been many insights, lessons and gifts that have come with all the sorrow.

Lord, you have shown us listening to you will comfort us, carry us further and even change our responses to the negative happenings around us.  You have reminded us that joy is possible in difficulty and uncertainty.  It can be a tremendous time of growth, learning and creativity.  We can overcome!  We can conquer!  We can discover hope in ways we never thought possible!  If we trust ourselves enough to open ourselves to you, then we can trust that you will walk with us until transformation comes, sometimes bit by bit but other times by leaps and bounds.

Holy God,

you are

the power

of hope.

Your light shines

in every darkness.

Your love

can and

will hold us

especially close

until the waves

of difficulty pass

or are transformed.
