Dear God,
I look around at all the pictures in my study, living room and bedroom and I whisper prayers of thanksgiving. They are pictures of loved ones, children and grandchildren, aunt, cousin and sisters of Carmel monastery. I give thanks for those who are biological family but also for those who came into my life and stayed.
What boggles my mind is how you make us not only a biological family but also a family of adoptees. I marvel how you made this thing called love with all its many dimensions like how love grows and expands and deepens. Love is rarely a one-time offering but one that can become greater and greater over time. While I love deeply all whose pictures are in my home, they point me to you, Living and Creating God who made us all, who made love and its elastic quality and who gave shape to a people who love one another. Thank you.
Holy God,
thank you
for the gift
of loved ones.
Thank you
for the
mysterious way
love increases.
Thank you
for the way
you made us
to love you
and one another.
Yours, Andrea
