Dear God,

There is no one in particular to pray for today, O Lord, but for everyone in general.  Right now there are so many hurting from unjust wars, crazy mass shootings, unbelievable poverty and starvation, laws that favor the rich over the poor and domestic and international terror.  How can I pray for a few when the many need so much prayer.

What are you doing in our world, dear God?  Are you turning life upside down so we will change as a people?  Are you flipping our cherished institutions like church, family, government, social agencies and  other beloved, trusted leaders so we might see differently?  Are you wanting us to hit rock bottom so we will truly look up?  

In my heart of hearts, I have to believe there is purpose and meaning to our chaos.

Lead us

to you,

Almighty and Compassionate God.

Help us

trust you.

Like the disciples

that were frightened

by the storm,

so we

are afraid too.

We need you.
Open us

more deeply

to you, Father,

I pray.
