Dear God,

Today I came upon a song by Josh Groban.  I clicked on it and sang along.  "When I am down and oh my soul, so weary, when troubles come and my heart burdened be, then I am still and wait here in the silence until you come and sit awhile with me.  You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains.  You raise me up to walk on stormy seas.  I am strong when I am on your shoulders you raise me up to more than I can be."  I let my tears stream down my face, not bad tears but tears of gratitude, hope and love.

I thought of my beloved grandmother whose love of your son and all of us lifted me onto her shoulders so that I could see higher.  I thought of the many mentors, examples and blessed caregivers who allowed me to stand on their shoulders so I could feel held, safe and loved.  I felt stronger, more courageous and supported and in the process my faith grew, my confidence was greater and hope exponentially increased.

Thank you
for the gift
of today.
Thank you
for every shoulder
upon which
I was invited
to stand.
Bless them,
O Lord,
bless them.

Yours, Andrea
