Dear God,
The tighter we hold onto things the less we truly possess them. The more freedom we give, the more we surrender, the greater the chance we shall always be part of them.
Children and grandchildren are like that. We may want to hold on to them forever but it doesn't work. We have to gently let them go so they will live their lives and we shall always hold a special place in their hearts. I have had to surrender both my children and their children. I have shed tears but still they are only ever temporarily in our company.
Surrender is what you do with us too. You do not hold us in a tight squeeze where we cannot move and live and love. You tenderly stay with us, walking with us on our journey but you compassionately open your arms so we can make our own decisions. When we need a greater embrace, you are there to give it but the opposite is also true. When we need greater freedom, you let us go but you are never far away.
Thank you,
Wondrous God,
for the gift
of faith.
Thank you
for teaching us
life lessons.
Thank you
for your
loving embrace
and your willingness
to let us
move in
our own direction.
You are
the one
and only God.
Yours, Andrea
