Dear God,

Light and darkness need to dance the dance of hope.  However, oftentimes we give more space to the power of darkness rather than the light.  But the reality is that you made both equal.  We need the darkness as much as we need the light.

We always welcome the light but never the darkness.  Nature shows us how the dance is created.  At those beautiful moments of twilight or first light, we see the beauty of the dance, light and dark joining one another.  It is a spectacular moment that happens every day.  

More often than not, growth occurs in the darkness.  In the darkness when life is stirring, trust can develop, faith can increase and insight can come.  When such miracle moments occur, it is when the dance begins.

Holy God,

thank you

for both

your special gifts,

the light

and the darkness.

Help us 

become friends

with both.

Teach us

to trust you

in the darkness

as well as

in the darkness.

Guide us

in the dance,

we pray.
