Dear God,
When we sing or say or pray the psalms, we join with billions of others who did the same centuries ago. But it doesn't stop there, people in the future will join the throng as well.
Who knows more about human nature than the psalmist? Whether in joy or sorrow, light or darkness, good or evil, the psalmist has a word to offer. Why is it we turn to the psalms before Old or New Testament readings? Because we know the psalmist has experienced whatever it is we are facing. We find comfort there if nowhere else than in Psalm 23 declaring, "The Lord is my shepherd..."
Great Shepherd,
thank you
for taking care
of your flock.
Thank you
for the psalmist
who wrote
what he felt.
Thank you
for the
ancient message
that still
speaks today.
Love, Andrea
