Dear God,

Early this morning I couldn't help but be captured by the only star in the sky.  Standing in the dark and looking up I felt like one of those children on the front of a Hallmark Christmas card.  I was caught up in awe and wonder.

But this is Advent.  Surprise, mystery and gifts are to be expected during this holy time. As I gazed upon the diamond in the sky, I thought of the Bethlehem star and how bright it was to capture the attention of the shepherds.  So much so that they ran to find the unexpected treasure.

I wish I had that kind of faith to see a star and follow it where God leads.  I am working on my faith this Advent because I want a shepherd's heart.

Holy God,

thank you

for the

bright star

on the

dark night.

Thank you

for the blessing.

Make me gaze

in wonder too.
