Dear God,

I lost a considerable percentage of my retirement savings in 2008. My last statement reveals that I will have much less income in retirement. It's hard to see what I consider big numbers to drop so low.

But my goodness, so many of the world's people have little or nothing right now, let alone in their future. They worry about food for their children, shelter for their family, aid from their distress. Many will die without help. It will never be about how much less they will have to live on because there is nothing to consider.

As I look at my statement, I sit in my warm home with plenty of food in the pantry and fridge and all the medicine I need in the cupboard to keep me living. I have clothing for every season and three cowgirl hats.

Good God,
downturns remind me
that I live
out of abundance.
In the kingdom
of God,
I will never
be first.
Daily remind me
of the consequences
and requirements
of living
out of abundance.
Thank you.

Love, Andrea
