My dearest God,
I sat outdoors in the garden drinking my coffee in the early morning light. As I sat and reflected upon the beauty all around me, I noticed the long row of orange day lillies beginning to open in the sunlight. In minutes they were in full bloom.
Flowers that opened under the warmth of the sun made me think about how humans do the same thing in the light of your spirit. In the darkness we remain hidden away, closed up, and shut off; however, when your light begins to glow, we begin to open as well feeling the warmth of your love. Our faith inspires us to open more and more as we lean in toward you to catch your spirit, enlivening our own.
All day long my orange beauties will provide a picturesque landscape. They will make me smile and I hope you too. I pray that my own life will take a clue from the flowers and I will become an image of beauty too, sensitive to your light, ready and willing to open at your call.
Beautiful God,
Gentle Spirit,
thank you
for yet
another reminder
of your presence
in the cosmos.
Teach us
to be
caught up
in the majesty
of your glory
playing our
own part
in creation.
Love, Andrea
