Dear God,

I felt myself filling up until I was ready to explode with excitement! Weeks ago when the pastor asked me to preach, it took me no time to decide what scripture text to use. For it was you who brought it to me. Psalm 96 awakened my senses to the power of the song.

When I asked you why sing, you came on a melody. I couldn't help but smile and I kept on smiling while putting on the finishing touches. I sang the reasons all day long.

It was today that I realized how vital the song is, how it resides at the deepest cellular level of life. When the song is released, it rises up, up, up and outward. It spreads quietly. Invisible it touches one and then another. The song transforms us if only for a moment. The gentle wisp of music cradles and rocks us like nothing else.

As I prepared by practicing throughout the day, I quietly lived in anticipation of the joy to come.

Come, Holy Spirit, come,
be the song
of life.
Stir us,
quicken our senses
that we
may join
the heavenly choir.
Let us sing
the everlasting song,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
