Dearest God,

This morning as I awakened, I was aware that hope had put me to sleep last night and hope had awakened me this morning.  Love lulled me to sleep last night and nudged me awake this morning.  Faith held me as I fell asleep and faith was the first thing to remind me how blessed I was this morning.  I can only boast of hope, love, and faith in my life because they are all gifts from you.

Every day it seems important to do an inventory of my spiritual life.  Do I have faith?  Do I know love?  Do I live in hope?  If I can say yes to these questions, then I know I am ready to face the new day.  I am armed with the gifts of your spirit and equipped to fight off any temptations or to deal with any challenges that may come my way.

As I pause each early morning to pray and to give thanks, I acknowledge you as the center of my life.  I realize there is no use stepping into an ordinary day when I believe this day can be an extraordinary one.  Your spirit, your presence, and your power make the difference between the two.

How do I know if I am having an extraordinary day?  Colors seem brighter.  Joy seems fuller.  Love overflows.      Possibilities seem greater.  I regard simple pleasures as great blessings.  I know I am walking with you.

I am grateful
for the gifts
that keep
my spirit alive
and well.
I thank you
for love
that not only sustains,
but gives
new life
every day.

loving touch.
