Dear God,

Rest nourishes the body, takes off the edge, and revives the weary soul.  Sometimes it is the only thing that can aid us when we feel overwhelmed.

My husband and I wait differently.  He voices concern over work that needs to be done.  I feel the challenge to do it although my energy level is waning.  I go outside, prune trees and carry them to the curb, and then rake and fill bags.  I drag in exhausted.  I feel worn out.

When I wait I draw a circle and breathe in your presence.  I deliberately quiet myself, rest, pray, and meditate because this process feeds me.  I feel the benefits of waiting.  I discover life lessons.

It is a challenge when two people wait differently.  I do what I do to help my husband in his waiting but his kind of waiting compels me to do outrageous things like I did today.  I feel defeated, irritated, and lonely.  So I go to my bed and rest, falling quickly to sleep, resting in your arms, and feeling at peace.

O God,
teach us
to meld
our spirits
into one
with yours.
Show us
how trust
makes waiting easier.
Direct us
to you
where help
awaits us.

Love, Andrea
