Dearest God,
I wrapped my arms around my two granddaughters, ages 12 and 9, and how wonderful it felt to be with them after months of my being gone. We decided to camp outside in the back yard. We put up the tent and then dragged out our sleeping bags, many blankets, pillows, a computer and DVD, and a laundry basket to serve as a table so we could watch the animated film. When the girls each prayed before we fell asleep, they both thanked you for letting us all get together. I did too.
The next morning we spent time together and then went to lunch at IHOP. My older granddaughter told me I was her very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very favorite grandma. She counted out the verys. My little red head chimed in, "Me too, the ultimate grandma!" I was so touched to be so loved but then I love them that much too.
I believe the ability to love comes directly from you. I believe you give us the opportunity to stretch our hearts to others. I believe you give us the capacity to love deep and wide. When we experience someone's expression of love toward us, we can be so filled with joy because joy comes from being loved so much. That's when I return to you to give thanks because it reminds me how much love you have for each of your children. In so many ways you show us how much you care. Thank you!
Thank you,
O Lord,
for the chance
to build relationships
with beloved grandchildren.
Thank you
for their
simple generosity.
Thank you
for the joy
they bring.
Thank you
for your kindness
in creating love
that lasts
a lifetime.
Love right back to you, Andrea
