Dear God,
How good it was to camp outdoors last night on a breezy, cold, and crisp night. The dark night sky was magnificent allowing the stars to step out and shine, first one, then another until finally the sky was filled with twinkling white lights. As I gazed into the heavens, I thought of you and how your light always shines in the darkness.
So often we forget you, Lord. We think the darkness means an absence of your spirit. We think the light will never shine or at best is far from us. We fail to remember you are the light of the world. We stumble around, blame you for the loss of our light, and act as if we have no faith at all. Yet, when your light mysteriously appears once again, we assume it was because of something we did ourselves. We take credit for the light and go on about our business.
Last night in my inner soul I reveled in the light both as I gazed upward into the heavens and also at the rip-roaring fire we had burning in the fire pit. In both I thought of you.
Great God,
source of
heavenly light,
thank you
for penetrating
the darkness
to reveal
your light
to us.
Thank you
for your radiance,
the glow
of your love,
and the life
your light brings.
Love, Andrea
