Dear God,
"Let us open our eyes to the light of God." The line we read responsively in the book of Midday Prayer at the Immaculate Conception Monastery stirred something within my soul. If we truly open our eyes to your light, the truth will always be revealed. You will show us the truth of your love and mercy, your challenge and correction, and your compassion and comfort. You will remind us of our relationship with you for we are your children and you are our heavenly parent.
Your desire for us is to listen and first know your love. You did not create us to hate us, to reject us, or to toss us aside. You created us to love, be loved, and to love back. You did not create us to hinder us from the full life you intended for us. You want us to know your power so we may not only overcome life's difficulties but also rise to high levels of faith and fulfill your plan for us. You did not create us to believe we are of no value. You want us to know we are your beloved and as beloved children, we will love those around us and far away so they too may know your love.
As we each one open our eyes, we may ultimately see you and follow your dream for a beautiful world.
Please forgive us,
Lord,
when we
close our eyes
and return
to false beliefs.
Teach us
once again
the meaning
of trust
and love.
Lead us
to the truth
that will
not only
set us free
but liberate
all your people.
Love, Andrea
