Dear God,

Why does peace elude us?  Why do we not choose to be redeemed?

Bitterness and hatred steal a full life from us, O Lord; yet, often we elect it rather than take the steps toward redemption.  Why do we do it?  Why do we decide to resist the work of your living spirit in our lives?

Today my loved one was deeply injured by a family member who has chosen to hang on to bitterness and hatred rather than surrender it for peace, hope, and joy.  In doing so my loved one suffers.

Why do we decide not to be healed?

Break down
the fibers
of bitterness
and hatred,
O Lord,
because sometimes
we simply
do not
have it
in us
to destroy it ourselves.
Show us
the way
to healing
and wholeness.
We need you,
dear God,
to lead us.
Thank you.

Love, Andrea
