Dear God,

Some wounds are so deep; only your spirit can heal them.  So many people suffer.

In prayer this morning suffering came to me.  I thought of the missing plane and all the people aboard.  I thought of family waiting for news.  I thought of the people residing in refuge camps and those who need food and shelter.  I thought of children, victims of war and strife.  I thought of families torn apart by as many reasons as there are people.  I thought of members of my family who are struggling right now.

I know we need to work through our suffering.  I know we need to do our part.  But we can only do so much when riddled with pain.  We need your healing power, O Lord; we need your strength.  We need faith so we can trust you to heal us.  We need courage, wisdom, and hope.

Almighty God,
full of compassion
for all
your people,
move us
to healing.
Refashion our suffering
into tools
for health
and wholeness.
Remove that
which divides us
and unite us
once again,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
