Dear God,

Disappointment causes us to rethink our expectations.  It also reminds us how we can take what we get, look at options, apply faith and then transform ourselves with your grace.

When we spend too much time carrying disappointment, we miss the gifts all around us.  A fall day, the smell of cookies baking, a child's smile, a warm embrace, and hope that awaits us can literally change what is happening to us.  We can focus on the positive, what we have rather than on the negative and what we do not have.  Disappointment can color our thinking and cause us to lose out on other opportunities you have for us.

Today I was disappointed; yet, I trusted you to help me shift my thinking to the challenges the disappointment gave me.  I was so grateful to you.

Heavenly Father,
thank you
for the constancy
of your mercy.
Thank you
for gentle reminders
of faith
that give us cause
to celebrate.
Thank you
for the opportunity
to transform ourselves.

Love, Andrea
