Dear God,

Waiting, I am waiting.  If there is one thing I have learned it is this:  waiting is part of faith.  Old Elizabeth waited for a baby.  Zechariah waited to speak.  Simeon waited for the messiah.  Anna waited for the promise.  In every case you blessed them beyond their wildest imaginations.  Through faith they were given so much connecting them to future generations who would make them part of their lives.  I read the stories of these faith-filled biblical characters and I realize they have a hand, an investment in my life and the lives of millions of others.  We tell their story at Christmas time because they warm our hearts and renew our faith.

I want to wait with a cheerful heart.  I want to wait with courage.  I want to wait with trust.  The biblical characters exhibited all these things and their stories became stories of godly power.  They made a witness to all those who would read the opening paragraphs of St. Luke in the bible.  They would speak to us of the love they had for you and model faith for us.

As I wait, I pray I too will make a witness for you, O Lord.

Guide us
through the path
of uncertainty,
Almighty God.
Teach us
to trust you
in all things.
Point us
to the future
where we
may see
the benefits
of waiting.
Show us
the way
to our
own salvation,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
