Dear God,

John the Baptist calls out in the desert, "Make a straight way for the Lord."  I have traveled to the Holy Land four times.  I have seen the topography of the land, up and down, winding and twisting, rocky, rocky, rocky roads.  It wasn't until today in my devotional reading that I realized the real message of John's words.  Am I dense, really dense or is my heart such that I am ready to hear it anew?

Make way, make way for God to travel to your soul.  Set aside doubt, it will get in the way of the Lord's coming.  Remove the obstacles of resistance, obstinacy, and fear.  They only tend to make it hard to meet the God who comes.  Climb out of the ruts of disbelief, non compliance, and self pity. They make blinders and who can see beyond them?  Remove all the signs like dead end, detour ahead, and road closed so the Lord can get to you.  Finally, release the hold on your own self will so the Lord can get his arms around you.  Get ready for the great coming of the Lord who longs to come to you.

I want
to be ready,
O Lord.
I want
to clear
the way
for you.
I want
to meet you today.

Love, Andrea
