Dear God,
So often we see faith as a dry belief system without power, joy, hope, grace, or peace. We say we believe but other than a brief declaration of faith, there is little else.
In the midst of little belief, sometimes the light will come and shine bright. It will awaken our senses, drive the light deeper into our dark faith, and bring renewed joy. Such was the case today. Linda T sent us her Christmas letter and told us how she was traveling with her husband to different cities with his work. In every case she searches out Catholic churches where she prays for a list of family and friends. She named the churches where she prayed for my husband and me. She shared extraordinary stories of faith, entering heaven as she prayed and worshipped, and dancing with God and weeping for joy.
We were blessed as we listened to Linda not because we could literally hear her voice but because her testimony of faith opened us so we could listen and experience the power and joy of faith once again.
Yes, indeed when life begins to look dark, the light will come.
Jesus,
Light of the World,
thank you
for brightening
our home
with faith today.
Thank you
for light
that shines bright.
Thank you
for joy
and peace
that follows.
Love always, Andrea
