Dear God,

Memories, you bring good memories to us when we need them.  Like the time a prayer was answered and we moved forward in life, we remember what you do for us and we celebrate.

I did not expect to remember a play I was in 56 years ago.  But when we attended West Side Story, I began to sing the music I sang so long ago.  I thought of friends on the stage with me.  I remembered with fond regard my high school where some of the happiest memories of my life took place.  I remembered and felt joy fill my heart.

You always have a hand in bringing joy to us, Good Lord.  How could I possibly recall an event that took place decades ago?  How could I suddenly sing lyrics I haven't sung for more than half a century?  You brought the sweet memories to me and I am so grateful.

I am filled
with gratitude
for your
sweet gift
to me,
O Lord.
Thank you
for my
high school,
my teenage friends,
and my
little town
in Elwood, Indiana,
where I
grew up.
Thank you
for memories
that continue
to shine
in my heart.

Love, Andrea
