Dear God,
"On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand." In the dark, early morning I sang this refrain from My Hope is Built. As I raised my voice to heaven, I thought of times when I indeed did stand on the solid rock of faith. I also remembered times of standing in sinking sand.
When I lose hope, when my soul begins to despair, sometimes I find that sinking sand. As I slip further down into the muck, I cry out to you, Holy God. Only when I take your hand and hold on tight do I discover the solid rock.
Faith is a solid rock. I don't have to worry about slipping and sliding when I stand with you. I know I have the power to overcome any storm not because I am a strong person but because I have a strong faith in you. You are the power of the solid rock, Lord, you and you alone.
Thank you
for gentle reminders
of faith
and sinking sand.
Thank you
for the challenge
that comes
when I struggle
to find ground
that will
hold me.
Thank you
for love
that always
forms rocks
upon which
to stand.
Love, Andrea
